Blade Drif
It's not just cutting. It's like, the sword *is* your movement. Your greatsword isn't just for hitting stuff, it's how you *drift*. You spin it, yeah, but it's not just an attack. It's like, you use the momentum from the spin to slide around corners, to bounce off walls, to even *fly* over gaps. It's so weird but so good. It's like, the game is all about mastering your momentum.
Remember that first stage, 'Crimson Alley'? I kept dying trying to just run and slash. Then I saw the tutorial hint pop up about 'momentum transfer' and I was like, 'what even is that?' But then I tried holding the spin button and instead of just attacking, my character, like, *glided* around the corner, picking up speed. It was like, ohhhhh. That's your drift. That's the whole game!
And the sound! When you get a perfect drift around one of those tight corners, there's this little *whoosh-shing* sound, it's so satisfying. I spent like an hour just trying to perfectly chain drifts through the 'Gloomwood Caverns' level, just because it felt so smooth. I looked at the clock and it was like, 1 AM. Oops.
It's not really a racing game, it's more like a puzzle platformer, but your tool for solving the puzzles is this giant sword and its momentum. You have to figure out how to use the spin to get past laser grids or propel yourself over those huge chasms. Like, yesterday I figured out if you hit those 'energy pylons' at just the right angle with a full drift, it creates a temporary ramp you can use. That totally changed how I approached the 'Sky-Shard Peaks' level.
I don't usually like games that are super fast or twitchy, but this one, it's different. Because it's not about being fast, it's about being *clever* with your momentum. It makes you feel really smart when you pull off a tricky sequence. I was literally thinking about that tricky jump on the 'Sky-Shard Peaks' stage during my meeting today, trying to visualize the drift path.
Seriously, you gotta try it. I already told Mark he needs to download it. It's fun. Really, really fun. And it's just so *different* from anything else I've played. You'll have a good time, I promise. Anyway, I should probably try to sleep now, but I'm still thinking about that perfect drift around the 'Sunken Spire'.
