Chicken Dash
So, remember when Sarah told us about it? She was like, "Oh, it's that game where you guide your flock across a highway and a river, dodge cars, hop logs, timing is everything." And I was like, "Okay, so Frogger with chickens, got it." Honestly, that description is like saying pizza is just "bread with toppings." Technically true, but completely misses the point!
Because when you actually play it, it's SO much more. The first time I started, I thought it was just one chicken. Then suddenly, I had like, five chickens, all with little names above their heads – like "Clucky" and "Henrietta" and "Nugget." And they all kinda move together, but then you figure out you can *split* them up, send one ahead to clear a path, or have another one wait for a slower log. My mind was blown! It's not just timing, it's like, a puzzle, but with really cute, dumb chickens.
There was this one part, I swear, I had Nugget, who's super slow, and I kept losing him to the cars. I felt genuinely bad, like I'd failed a real pet. Then I figured out if I sent Rocky, the big, strong-looking one, first, he'd kinda distract the cars for a second, giving Nugget a chance to dash. It’s like, you actually start caring about these little pixelated birds. And the little "peep peep" sound they make when they successfully hop onto a lily pad? So satisfying.
I started playing at like 8 PM, thinking I'd just try a few levels. Looked at the clock and it was 2 AM. I was like, "NO WAY." I don't usually get hooked on these kinda puzzle games, but this one is different. It's not just about getting *a* chicken across, it's about getting *your* chickens across, using their weird little strengths and weaknesses. It's like trying to herd a bunch of toddlers across a busy street, but you also have to make sure each toddler gets their favorite specific snack at the end. Super weird, but super fun.
Honestly, you gotta try it. I already told Alex about it, he's usually into those big strategy games, but I think even he'd get a kick out of trying to save Clucky from a speeding truck. It’s really good. Really, really good.
